The hit show is set in 1910 and follows the life of Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), a young teacher accustomed to her high-society life.
She receives her first classroom assignment in Coal Valley, a small coal-mining town in Western Canada and so begins her new adventure.
Coal Valley is a sweet town where life is simple. Elizabeth quickly charms the townsfolk, except for Constable Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing). Well, at least for the first couple of seasons!
The back story to the town is a rather sad one. 47 miners were killed in an explosion, due to the mining-company irresponsible management and lack of due care.
But as the town moves on the future starts to look brighter, Coal Valley is renamed Hope Valley in the second season.
Like all towns, it has its ups and downs but it is also where Elizabeth and her friends call home.

The Durrells
It's 1935 in Bournemouth and Louisa Durrell is a young widow with four children. Hoping for a better life, she packs up the family and moves them all to Corfu. The Durrells is funny, witty and at times quite poignant. A brilliantly sharp adaptation of Gerald Durrell's autobiographical trilogy and great for a binge!

If you live in the US, you can watch When Calls The Heart on Hallmark.
Outside of the US, you can watch Seasons 5 & 6 on Netflix. Strangely they don't have any more than that so for the full nine seasons you have to go to Amazon Prime.

When Calls The Heart Season 10
The good news is that Elizabeth's story isn't over just yet. On June 17, 2022, Hallmark confirmed that the series was renewed for a tenth season.
The series every year at the same time so we expect When Calls The Heart Season 10 to start airing in February 2023.
