The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a Netflix Original that is based on the Archie comic book series.

A huge global hit, the show revolves around Sabrina Spellman, a 16-year-old half-witch torn between the mortal world and the world of magic.

Kiernan Shipka stars as Sabrina alongside Ross Lynch, Lucy Davis, Chance Perdomo, Michelle Gomez, Jaz Sinclair and Tati Gabrielle.

In December 2017, Netflix announced a straight-to-series order, consisting of twenty episodes.

What Is The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina About?

Based on the Archie Comics character Sabrina Spellman, the show is a dark coming-of-age story that follows a half-human, half-witch teenager attending Baxter High.

On her 16th birthday she discovers that she can no longer continue being both a witch and live a normal life.

And witches are, broadly speaking, evil. They worship and adhere to the Dark Lord and follow the path of darkness.

They must embrace the magic and cut all ties to the mortal world. The problem is that Sabrina isn't sure she actually wants to be a full witch.

Knowing her father was a Warlock and her mother a mortal, the two sides tug relentlessly at her emotions. Should she choose the path of darkness or the path of light?

And why should she even pledge herself to Satan? Isn't it just another way of being controlled? Why can't she just have it all…

Why Did The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Get Cancelled?

The official reason that Netflix cancelled The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina in July 2020 was due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fans weren't left completely high and dry as Part 4 did try to give the whole show an ending of sorts.

But fans were left wondering about some of the plot threads. So to really wrap things up, there was a crossover with Riverdale season 6 where Kiernan Shipka reprised her role to provide closure to Sabrina.

Plus for those interested in her evolution, a comic book series continuation, titled The Occult World of Sabrina, was also announced.

Where Was The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Filmed?

Like so many shows, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was filmed entirely in Canada.

Locations include a store on 176 Street, Surrey which doubles as Cerberus Books store, Lord Strathcona Elementary School which was used as Baxter High School and Paramount Gentleman's Club which is used for the exterior of the movie theater.

The Spellman Mortuary is actually 333 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford and the woods, which are the setting for so many scenes is actually Redwood Park in Surrey, British Columbia.
