Created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, Arcane: League of Legends is a Netflix animated action-adventure series.
Production of the show was announced in 2019. It was created by the French animation studio Fortiche alongside Riot Games, who originally created the League of Legends video game on which the series is based.
The first season was a huge success for Netflix, with Arcane setting the record as its highest-rated series at the time.
It topped the Netflix charts in 52 countries and was critically acclaimed; fans loved it.
We already know that the show has been renewed, and now the big question is – Arcane Season 2, when is it coming to Netflix???
Arcane Season 2 – Netflix Release Date
Netflix and Riot Games announced, in November 2021, that Arcane was being renewed for a second season.
In fact, it was already in production. But unlike live-action shows, animated series on the scale of Arcane League of Legends, take a lot longer to create.
We do know that Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell and Katie Leung are back in their roles as Vi, Jinx and Caitlyn. And that the sisters will continue to overcome the dark power that threatens to keep them apart.
And thankfully we also have an update on when we can expect to see Arcane season 2 on Netflix!
Get the diaries out because we still have to wait a looooooong time – it's NOVEMBER 2024.
Yep, that wasn't a typo. It is a THREE year gap between announcement and streaming it. But, at least we now have a release date which is better than nothing.
And, if you can't wait that long why not check out our list of shows like Arcane League of Legends to keep you entertained?
Arcane Season 1 Recap
Arcane is set between the rich city of Piltover and the repressed undercity of Zaun. Tensions between these city-states are always simmering.
The creation of hextech, a way for any person to control magical energy in Piltover, and shimmer which transforms humans into monsters in Zaun threaten to destroy everything.
The rivalry splits families and friends as we follow the origin stories of two iconic League champions and the power that will tear them apart.
Over nine episodes we follow Vi, Jinx, Jayce and Silco as they battle and fight for independence and freedom until Jayce realises that peace comes at a very high price.
We left our heroes as Jinx decides to weaponize the Hextech gemstone and use it against Piltover, just as Zaun is being Zaun granted its independence.
How Old Are The Characters In Arcane
Essentially Arcane is the original story for sisters Vi and Jinx (formerly Powder). Orphaned at a young age, the sisters grow up and become League of Legends heroes but we're not there yet…
In the first act, Vi is around 14 years old and her younger sister Jinx is around 11.
By the second act, and the point at which the Arcane League of Legends story is being told, the sisters are around 20 and 17 years old.
