Some really good news for fans of the Netflix Original Atypical. The streaming service have confirmed that the critically acclaimed series has been renewed for a third season.
Created, written and executive produced by Robia Rashid (How I Met Your Mother, Will & Grace), Atypical follows the Gardner family – the mum Elsa, played by Jennifer Jason Leigh, the dad Doug, played by Michael Rappaport, their 18 year old son Sam played by Keir Gilchrist and their 16 year old daughter Casey, played by Brigette Lundy-Paine.
Atypical is a coming of age story that follows Sam, who is on the autistic spectrum, as he searches for love and independence. While on his often funny and emotional journey of self-discovery, the rest of his family must grapple with change in their own lives as they all struggle with the central theme: what does it really mean to be normal?
It is a wonderful show and if you haven't already seen it then you should check out our review of it here. Season one has eight episodes, season two has ten and the newly commissioned season 3 will also have ten 30 minute episodes.
There are no details yet on when it will be aired but Season two only dropped in September so it may be another year before we get to catch up with the Gardners.
