Fans of the original show, Bosch, will already know that it is based on the series of novels by Michael Connelly.
It centres on Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver), a Los Angeles Police Department detective. The series premiered in 2014 and was well-received, ultimately running for seven seasons.
But fans clearly hadn't had enough of harry so a spinoff, Bosch Legacy, was quickly in the works.
Proving to be another big hitter for Amazon, the streaming service renewed it before the first episode even dropped.
So now that we've got the lay of the land, the big question is when can we expect to see Bosch Legacy season 2 on Amazon?
If you haven't already watched the first season, here's a quick summary of what happened…
Bosch Legacy Season 1 Recap
Bosch has retired from the LAPD and is now a private detective. Based on The Wrong Side of Goodbye (Book 19) and The Night Fire (Book 22) from Michael Connelly, he now works for defence attorney Honey Chandler (Mimi Rogers).
His daughter Maddie (Madison Lintz) is all grown up and a patrol officer with the LAPD at the Hollywood Station, her father's old stomping ground.
Over the course of the season, there are tow main cases. The first is the investigation into Carl Rogers, who previously hired a hitman to kill Chandler.
The second is when billionaire businessman Whitney Vance asks Bosch to look for a woman he got pregnant in college to see if he has an heir.
The season ends on a cliffhanger that suggests Maddie might be in danger.
Bosch Legacy Season 2 Release Date
Thankfully the drama of Harry Bosch's life didn't end with one season. He will be returning to fight the good fight, and we know that it will be based on the novel, The Crossing (book 18).
Amazon Prime Video have now confirmed that Bosch Legacy season 2 will drop on FreeVee on October 20th 2023.
So until the newest episodes drop, let's take a little look at what the plot of Bosch Legacy season 2 might be…
Bosch Legacy Season 2 – What Will Happen?
As mentioned above, the next season will be based on the 18th book in the series, The Crossing.
But there's a catch. As we know, Michael Connelly has written both the Bosch and Haller (The Lincoln Lawyer) characters, who, in the books, are half brothers.
This book revolves around a story involving both of them. However, as Amazon owns Bosch and Netflix owns Haller, they will essentially never meet on tv.
So if we substitute Honey Chandler for Haller and the story remains mostly the same, we should see Harry Bosch investigate a woman that has been murdered with the evidence pointing to Chandler's client.
Honey is sure it's a setup and agrees that Harry proves the client did it, under the rules of discovery, they will turn over the evidence to the prosecution.
Bosch reluctantly takes the case and with the help of his former LAPD partner starts digging.
But when the investigation leads him back to the police he realises he is playing a very dangerous cat and mouse game.
How Many Episodes Of Bosch Legacy?
Bosch on Amazon Prime Video had aired a total of 68 episodes across seven seasons.
The show premiered on February 6, 2014, with its first season, and the seventh and final season was released on June 25, 2021.
Each season adapted various elements from Michael Connelly's series of Bosch novels.
Once Bosch ended, the spin-off Bosch Legacy began airing. While technically it's a different show, due to the focus being on Bosch, Maddie and Honey Chandler, it's pretty much a continuation of the original show.
The first season of Legacy consisted of 10 episodes and it looks like a similar format will be used for the second season.
The third season has now also been confirmed so we know that we will get at least 30 episodes of Bosch Legacy along with the 68 from the original show.
Is Bosch Legacy On Amazon Or Netflix?
Bosch Legacy is an Amazon original that airs on FreeVee so it can only be watched on that platform.
Michael Connelly also wrote the The Lincoln Lawyer novels and they have been adapted by Netflix.
With two seasons already out and a third in production, it's another gritty legal drama to watch.
