Harlan Coben Shows – Every Amazing Series On Netflix In 2024

Harlan Coben shows

If you're already a fan of Harlan Coben shows and novels then you will know that his stories often involve the resurfacing of unresolved events in the past.

Usually, they include murders, fatal accidents, missing people and characters hiding a lot of secrets. With multiple twists and turns along the way, readers have been kept guessing for years.

Crime thrillers are big business on TV so it was no surprise when, in August 2018, Coben signed a multi-million-dollar five-year deal with Netflix.

Under the deal, 14 of Coben's 33 novels would be developed into original Netflix series or films, with him serving as executive producer on all projects.

The first title released under the deal was The Stranger, based on his novel of the same name, which premiered in January 2020.

So even though Safe is the first of the Harlan Coben shows on Netflix, it wasn't included in the deal.

In fact, Safe was based on an idea rather than a book, and the deal was signed after it was released.

Harlan Coben Deal With Netflix

According to Coben himself, when speaking to Deadline in 2021, he had made a couple of TV shows in France for TF1 that had done well and had gotten onto Netflix’s radar.

He said “We were making Safe together [Coben and his producers at Red Production Company] with Netflix’s international division, they wanted to make one show in France, a show in the UK, and then they came up with the idea for the overall deal.

“They want to do a lot of international stuff and my books sell well overseas. I sell more internationally than I do in the USA.

“I thought it would be a cool opportunity, to do a Netflix Spain show, Netflix France show, Netflix UK show, Netflix U.S. show. It was appealing to me.”

Gone For Good

Gone for Good is a 2021 French crime thriller created by David Elkaïm and Vincent Poymiro based on Harlan Coben's 2002 novel, Gone for Good.

Guillaume thought he had drawn a line under the terrible tragedy which saw the two people he loved the most die.

Ten years later, Judith, whose love has made his life worth living again, suddenly disappears during his mother's funeral.

To find her, Guillaume will have to uncover all of the secrets hidden from him by his family and friends.

Can he find Judith and what really happened on that tragic night ten years ago?

Another Harlan Coben adaptation, Gone For Good stars Finnegan Oldfield, Nicolas Duvauchelle and Guillaume Gouix.

Hold Tight

Set in a upscale Polish community where most of the residents lead a quiet life and neighbours are friendly, everything changes when 18-year-old Adam disappears without a trace.

The danger escalates quickly as the parents try to protect their children. The problem is that the teenagers have decided to take matters into their own hands.

Harlan Coben Movies On Netflix

As of yet, there are no Harlan Coben movies on Netflix. All of his books have been turned into series.

However, in 2020 it was announced that David Ayer (Suicide Squad) was set to write, direct and produce an adaptation of the Coben bestseller Six Years.

Based on the 2013 novel of the same name, the title refers to the number of years that passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man.

Invited to her wedding, Jake watches Natalie take her vows, and she tells him to leave her alone forever.

For six years, he keeps that promise.

But when he sees Natalie’s husband’s obituary, Jake decides to attend the funeral and comfort Natalie.

He is stunned to discover that the man’s widow is not Natalie and that the church where he watched her marry has no record of the ceremony.

Don't expect to see Six Years any time soon though. The production is still at the ‘script' stage and hasn't been cast.
