How I Met Your Father Coming To Disney Plus

How I Met Your Father Coming To Disney Plus

If you've never heard of the show How I Met Your Mother then you haven't been paying attention. It was a mega-successful sitcom that centred around six friends that primarily focused on the life of Ted Mosby.

Set in Manhattan, Ted, in the year 2030, recounts to his son, Luke, and daughter, Penny, the events from September 2005 to May 2013 that led him to meet their mother.

The show ran for nine seasons and while some fans absolutely hated the ending, overall the show was a hit.

So fast-forward to 2022 and we have the spin-off How I Met Your Father. The American sitcom, created by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, premiered on Hulu on January 18, 2022.

Like its predecessor, the show follows Sophie (Hilary Duff), and her group of friends in Manhattan. Sophie (Kim Cattrall), in the year 2050, recounts to her unseen son the events that followed meeting his father in January 2022, and how they ultimately had him.

With just 10 episodes in the first season, it's another big hit and the good news is that it is coming to Disney Plus!

Where To Watch How I Met Your Father?

If you are in the US then you can already watch How I Met Your Father on Hulu.

For everybody else, the entire first season will start streaming on Disney+ from Wednesday 11th May 2022.

So is Sophie as engaging as Ted and is the show worth watching? Honestly, it may have the same premise but they are different shows.

That said, a spin off should offer something more than a re-hash so while we get a more modern take on dating and life, it isn't anything very unique.

How I Met Your Father Season 2 Release Date

For some viewers, season one hasn't even hit the tv screens yet. However, in February 2022, the series was renewed for a second season but this time the order was for a whopping 20 episodes!!

Now I know that things in tv land move fast but it still takes a bit of time to create a brand new season of a show.

Season one went from filming to tv in around four and half months but with double the episodes, it's going to take a bit longer this time around.

As soon as we know the release date for HIMYF Season 2 we will let you know!

How I Met Your Father Season 2 Storyline

How I Met Your Father is the kind of show that could run for a long time. So it's not surprising that Sophie didn't find true love at the end of season one, after all, where would that leave the story for season two?

Sophie is the kind of character who self-destructs a little bit when things start to go well. So despite the will-they-won't-they between her and Jesse, things didn't end great.

Then there's Ian and their relationship has enough legs to carry through to the second season. Can they make it work?

Also being touted as a potential storyline is Valentina being back and single. Things could get very interesting for the ladies as they navigate NYC as singeltons in season 2!

Cast Of How I Met Your Mother

A great spinoff needs a great cast so choosing the always lovable Hilary Duff was a no brainer.

All good comedies have to be relatable and that's why we love the show so much…that and the great writing from Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger.

Hilary Duff as Sophie, a hopelessly romantic photographer who is looking for her soulmate.

Chris Lowell as Jesse, an aspiring musician who works as an Uber driver and music teacher. He lives with Sid in Ted, Marshall and Lily's old apartment.

Francia Raisa as Valentina, an impulsive assistant-stylist who is also Sophie's best friend and roommate.

Suraj Sharma as Sid, Jesse's best friend and roommate who owns a bar. He is engaged to his long-distance girlfriend Hannah.

Tom Ainsley as Charlie, a British aristocrat who abandons his inheritance to follow his love interest Valentina to New York after they meet at London Fashion Week.

Tien Tran as Ellen, Jesse's adoptive sister who moves to New York City to find romance.

Kim Cattrall as future Sophie, who in the year 2050 tells her son the story of how she met his father.

Leighton Meester (The Weekend Away) as Meredith, Jesse's ex-girlfriend.

Daniel Augustin as Ian, Sophie's Tinder date

Josh Peck as Drew, the vice principal at the school where Jesse teaches music lessons

Ashley Reyes as Hannah, Sid's longtime girlfriend

Cobie Smulders as Robin Scherbatsky, a news reporter
