Cobra Kai Season 6 Release Date – When Is It Coming To Netflix?

Cobra Kai Season 6 Release Date – When Is It Coming To Netflix?

Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, played by Ralph Macchio and William Zabka reprised their roles from the hit 1984 movie ‘The Karate Kid‘ for the YouTube series Cobra Kai in 2018.

Set 34 years after the events of the original film, the first season of Cobra Kai was released on YouTube Red and it went on to become an unexpected hit, with a second season following in 2019.

After filming wrapped on season three, YouTube announced it would cease production of all original programming on the platform.

Netflix saw an opportunity to acquire a popular show and in June 2020 they signed a deal to produce and stream the third installment of the franchise. Since then the show has grown a huge loyal fan base on the platform.

Seasons 1 through to season 5 of Cobra Kai have made it one of the most-watched programs on Netflix after the series moved to the streaming service in August 2020.

When Is Cobra Kai Season 6 Coming Out?

Netflix dropped the latest season of Cobra Kai (Season 5) on September 9th, 2022. It proved to be another mega hit, with more than 274.72m hours being watched globally according to the Netflix top 10s.

So with the fans watching in their millions, it was no surprise that Netflix announced a sixth season would be made. The bad news however, is that it will also be the LAST.

I know, it's a travesty but all good things must come to an end, and for Cobra Kai, that is six seasons.

The good news is that executive producers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg confirmed in an open letter to fans that they should “strap in for the BIGGEST SEASON OF COBRA KAI YET.”

They always wanted to tell the full story of Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, and that is exactly what they have been able to do.

Netflix gave us a sneak peak as the actors returned for the script reading back in April 2023 and things were looking good for a 2023 release.

And then it all ground to a halt. Production stopped on May 2nd 2023 due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike.

It doesn't look like it has resumed, especially as the strike is still on going. So with no filming, there's definitely no exact release date for Cobra Kai season 6.

If things get back on track, we will get the final season in 2024. Though an exact date is anybody's guess right now!

Cobra Kai Season 6 Official Announcement

Cobra Kai Season 5 Recap

While it hasn't been that long since the ending of season five, we felt it only right to give you a round up of the goings on and where we left things.

At least you'll be up to date when Cobra Kai season 6 finally airs!

Terry Silver begins a calculated expansion of the Cobra Kai empire, launching new dojos across the San Fernando Valley.

Meanwhile, Johnny and his estranged son, Robby, travel to Mexico in search of Miguel, who is on a quest to find his biological father.

Miguel finds his father, Hector, but learns the hard way about Hector's dangerous past, leading to a timely rescue and reconciliation with Johnny.

Daniel LaRusso, having partnered with Cobra Kai, decides to shut down Miyagi-Do and start investigating Silver. With Chozen, they form a plan to expose Silver's maniacal nature to the Valley.

In a shocking twist, Silver retaliates against Daniel's investigation by burning down Mike Barnes' furniture store. The stakes escalate further when it is revealed that Silver aims to enroll Cobra Kai students in the Sekai Taikai, the most prestigious karate tournament in the world.

A test run of the tournament pits Cobra Kai against Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang, with the young fighters showcasing their skills.

Meanwhile, Daniel, Johnny, and Chozen continue their investigation, with Kreese revealing Silver's grand plan during a prison visit.

The season finale sees a chaotic inter-dojo battle as students from Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang break into Cobra Kai to expose Silver's crimes.

In a moment of intense confrontation, Silver challenges Daniel to a fight, but his maniacal nature has been fully exposed.

The stage is set for a future showdown, but for now, Silver's villainy has been laid bare for all to see.
