Apple TV+ has recently announced a six-part Lionel Messi documentary series produced by SMUGGLER Entertainment.

Titled ‘Messi Meets America', this series will provide exclusive behind-the-scenes access to global superstar Lionel Messi, widely regarded as the greatest footballer of all time.

Filmed in Paris, Qatar, and Argentina, the documentary tracks Messi's journey through his participation in five FIFA World Cup tournaments, including his memorable victory at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which featured one of the most thrilling finals in history.


Through his own words, Messi will narrate the definitive story of his extraordinary career with the Argentina national football team, offering an intimate and unprecedented glimpse into his relentless pursuit of a World Cup triumph that would solidify his legacy.

It took a while but Apple TV+ finally provided a little more information on Messi Meets America.

Given that it is the first and only behind-the-scenes account of this new chapter in his record-breaking career, anticipation is high.

Thankfully we don't have to wait much longer as the first three episodes of Messi Meets America will premiere on October 11th 2023.

The three additional episodes, that will closely follow the Major League Soccer action will premiere later in the season.

The docu-series is executive produced by Emmy Award winner Tim Pastore (Free Solo, Jane), Emmy and Tony Award winners Patrick Milling Smith and Brian Carmody, and Emmy Award winner Matt Renner (Limitless with Chris Hemsworth) of SMUGGLER Entertainment, alongside Jon Henion (Welcome to Wrexham) and Juan Camilo Cruz (In Her Hands).

“I’ve daydreamed about it after many years of fighting for it. I made a million possibilities of what could happen…the first match, the round of 16, the quarterfinals, the semifinal and the final.

“I’m also going to live it as something special, because it’s the last one. To finish my last year winning a World Cup would be the dream ending.”
