Schmigadoon! is a musical comedy tv series created by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio. The first season aired on Apple TV+ on July 16, 2021.
Starring an ensemble cast led by Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key, the show is a brilliant parody of the Golden Age musicals of the 1940s and 1950s.
Fans loved the show, and critics duly rewarded its originality with four Primetime Emmy nominations. And riding high on how well it performed for Apple TV+, it was renewed for a second season.
Schmigadoon! Season 2 Release Date
Schmigadoon! will return for season two with six new episodes featuring all new original songs and guest stars.
Filmed in 2022, the first two episodes of Schmigadoon! season 2 will drop on Apple TV+ on April 7, 2023.
The remaining four episodes will then drop weekly until May 5th 2023. So if you want to binge the whole season, that's the date to stick in the diary!
Schmigadoon! Season 1 Recap

Josh (Keegan-Michael Key) and Melissa (Cecily Strong) are a couple whose relationship is in trouble. To fix things, they decide to go on a hike but accidentally stumble across a magical town called Schmigadoon
Perpetually trapped in a Golden Age-style musical, the couple soon discovers that they cannot leave the town until they find true love.
But that doesn't necessarily mean with each other! With a full cast of singletons ready to sweep them off their feet, finding their way home is trickier than they think.
However, they eventually come to their senses and realize they are meant for each other and duly leave the town and head home more in love than ever.
What's The Plot Of Schmigaddon! Season 2?
Having found true love in the first season, Schmigadoon! season 2 sees our two leads in Schmicago, the reimagined world of ’60s and ’70s musicals.
With brand new original musical numbers from Cinco Paul, Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key return for more fun.
They will be joined by Ariana DeBose, Martin Short, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ann Harada, Jane Krakowski and Aaron Tveit.
Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page are also joining the cast for season two.
Where To Watch Schmigadoon!
Schmigadoon! is an Apple TV+ original comedy and because of that, Apple TV+ is the only place you can watch the show.
It's an all-dancing, all-singling musical comedy series but with only six episodes in each season, is a very easy binge-watch.
When And Where Was Schmigadoon Filmed?
Though the show features general tropes from of types all musicals, it leans heavily towards Brigadoon, Oklahoma, Carousel, The Music Man, and Sound of Music.
So creating a world inhabited by characters who think they live in a musical is no easy feat.
Schmigadoon! was filmed entirely in Canada at purpose-built stages in MBS Golden Ears Studios and Vancouver Film Studios.
Filming for the first season began in October 2020, wrapping in December 2020 and was released in July 2021.
Schmigadoon! season 2 was filmed from June 6th to August 4th 2022, and will be released on April 7th 2023.
