Netflix Firefly Lane dropped in February 2021. It's a story of friendship and resilience that spans more than three decades. Tully and Kate are best pals who support each other through good and bad times with an indestructible bond that takes them from adolescence to their forties.
It's a moving, emotional tale about female friends and their lifelong connection. The first season was a big hit and Netflix has confirmed a second series.
The show is based on Kristin Hannah's novel of the same name. Hannah took ideas for the book from her own childhood in Seattle, Washington in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as her studies at the University of Washington.
In 2019, it was revealed that Netflix had agreed to produce a 10-episode streaming television program based on the book. It premiered on February 3, 2021, starring Katherine Heigl as Tully Hart and Sarah Chalke as Kate Mularkey.

What did Tully do on Firefly Lane?
***SPOILERS AHEAD***
We were shattered by the conclusion of Firefly Lane, which took us to the future, where Kate and Tully were no longer friends! What did Tully do to Kate?
In the last few episodes, we see a flash forward to the future, where Kate is at a funeral with her daughter Marah and comes face to face with Tully. It appears that the pair have been estranged for some time. While the full story is not revealed, it's clear that something happened between them that led to this.
Many fans are desperate for answers and are hoping for a Season Two of Firefly Lane to give us some closure on the issue!
However, as the series is based on a book, many fans have read ahead to see what happens between the pair. WARNING – Stop reading now if you don't want to know what happened between Tully and Kate!
According to the book, after Tully performs a stunt that humiliates Kate publicly, they fall out. The TV adaptation differs from the book in many ways, but it's too soon to tell if the same storyline is used in the Netflix series.
Where is Firefly Lane filmed?
Like many TV series and movies, Firefly Lane is filmed in Vancouver. The City has been used to film popular programs such as Supernatural, Smallville, iZombie, and Lucifer.
The city has not only shown to have lower production costs, but Vancouver also offers a variety of landscapes that are ideal for romance, horror, and more.
Vancouver's lush outskirts and quaint little town feel can substitute for small town America. Do you want your superhero in a rainy cityscape? Downtown Vancouver can easily double for New York. Rural outskirts of the city can resemble Northern California.
Filming locations
The CF Pacific Centre in Vancouver's downtown is the shopping mall of the first episode, “Hello Yellow Brick Road.”
The Per Se Social Corner is an Italian coffee bar at 891 Homer Street in Vancouver's financial sector, on the verge of Yaletown and downtown. It is where Tully takes her chances with Max.
The interior of the high school was shot at Lord Byng Secondary in West Point Grey, which is where the Riverdale TV series was filmed.
The life long friends first met in 1974 in the town of Snohomish (Washington) on Firefly Lane. The real location is Langley City (BC) close to the Fraser River, Tully's house is just a stone's throw away from Kate's.
In the series, adult Kate lives on a waterfront home. This 1.6-acre property on West Vancouver's Horseshoe Bay at 5240 Marine Dr is located in a luxury resort only minutes from downtown Vancouver.
