What Is Mare of Easttown About?
The show takes place in the suburbs of Philadelphia, where police detective Marianne “Mare” Sheehan (Winslet, Titanic) investigates the recent murder of a teenage mother while trying to prevent her own life from falling apart.
Mare is a local heroine, once starring in a high school basketball championship game 25 years ago. She has also been trying to solve another murder case for the past year, leading many in the community to doubt her detective skills.
Her personal problems include a divorce, a lost son by suicide and a grandson custody battle with his heroin-addicted daughter-in-law.
Mare must deal with a troubled personal life and complicated family relationships and reconcile it all with her work. She lives with her mother, daughter and grandson and has difficulties co-existence in the three social cores.
Owner of an assertive and combative personality, serious and tough, she hardly lets her guard down.
With a well-structured script, there is no lack of mystery, and all the strands come together very nicely. Beyond an investigation series, Mare of Easttown goes much further and is also an excellent drama about one woman's struggle through life.

How Many Episodes Does Mare of Easttown Have?
Mare of Easttown premiered in April 2021 and ended in May 2021.
The series consists of seven episodes with an average of 60 minutes each.
For now, there are no plans to create a second season.
Who Is Colin Zabel?
One of the favourite elements of Mare of Easttown is the outsider detective, the investigator who comes from another town to assist in the investigation.
Unlike Mare, who already has an established relationship with the town's residents, he doesn't know anyone.
Played by Evan Peters, Colin Zabel is a detective with a straight face who always tries to do everything in the most correct way possible.
The dynamic of coexistence between Colin and Mare becomes quite interesting and one of the key points of the series, being two people with such distinct characters.
Mare has no intention of changing her personality or way of working on trying to be more agreeable to her colleague. The two learn to co-exist while working towards a common goal and becoming a very functional duo. A partnership not to be missed!
Where Was Mare of Easttown Filmed?
The series' filming began in the autumn of 2019 around suburban Philadelphia, with plans to continue until April 2020. However, production was shut down early due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming returned later the same year.
As the story is set in a fictional version of Easttown Township in Chester County, Pennsylvania, where series creator Brad Ingelsby was born, there were arguments about using a version of Philadelphia English.
According to sources, it was Kate Winslet who insisted that they should use the accent, despite it being challenging to learn, because she felt that the community itself was an essential character in the story, and the authentic accent would help emphasise that.
Filming locations included a train station, a high school gymnasium in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, and an American Legion hall in Ogden, a community in Delaware County.
Many of the other filming locations centred around Aston Township in Delaware County.
