Psych is an brilliantly funny American detective comedy-drama television series created by Steve Franks.

The series stars James Roday as Shawn Spencer, who's incredible observation skills are put to use when he pretends to be a psychic to get a consultancy job at the Santa Barbara police department.

Along with his best friend, Gus (Dulé Hill), who reluctantly agrees to help him, the duo spend eight seasons and three movies solving crime.

How Many Seasons Of Monk Aired?

After its premiere on July 12, 2002, Monk became one of the most viewed series in the genre.

In fact, the series held the record for the most watched dramatic episode in cable television history from 2009 to 2012 with 9.4 million viewers, 3.2 million aged between 18 and 49.

The final season ended on December 4, 2009, ending the show with eight seasons and a total of 125 episodes.

Monk has received significant critical acclaim, winning eight Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Where Was Monk Filmed?

While the main set is in San Francisco, most of Monk's scenes were filmed elsewhere. The pilot episode was shot in Vancouver, British Columbia, and succeeding episodes of season one were recorded in Toronto, Ontario.

Most episodes of seasons two through five were filmed in Los Angeles, California.

Many of them are on the Ren-Mar Studios stage, which includes Adrian's flat, Sharona's home, the murder office, Dr Kroger's office, and Natalie's home.

Why Did Monk End?

Monk is a US television series created by Andy Breckman and produced by Andy Breckman, David Hoberman, Rob Thompson and Tony Shalhoub at USA Originals Studios.

Although the plot is fictional, series co-creator David Hoberman says he based Monk partly on himself and other fictional detectives such as Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes.

According to him, the show is essentially inspired by Sherlock Holmes, but many of Monk's quirks originated from himself, and Tony Shalhoub executed it brilliantly in his role.

Is There A Spinoff Of Monk?

Yes! With all the popularity of Monk, after the series ended, a spinoff called Little Monk was produced.

This series followed the adventures of Adrian Monk, his brother Ambrose, and his classmate Wendy.

The ten-episode show followed this gang on several wildly strange adventures as they investigated middle school level infractions such as missing bracelets and talent show cheating.
