Power is an American crime drama series highly acclaimed by critics. Created and produced by Courtney A. Kemp in cooperation with Curtis Jackson, it has become one of the most viewed series on television.
Power tells the story of James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), a ruthless drug dealer who wishes to leave the criminal life to pursue legitimate business interests as a nightclub owner.
He wants to build an empire and turn the place into an even more smash success, yet he lives a double life.
Besides being a businessman, he is also the head of a lucrative drug network in the city, catering to a high-level clientele.

Is Power Based On A True Story?
Power producer Courtney A. Kemp confirmed that she based the character of Ghost on two people from real life.
Kemp always thought of creating a series about a man who wanted to leave the drug game behind to become a successful businessman. Still, since she had no idea what selling drugs involved, she asked Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson to come on board as an executive producer.
Born and raised in Jamaica, Queens, “50 Cent” started selling drugs at the age of 12 to support himself and his grandmother.
As such, 50 Cent has influenced the character of Ghost considerably, with elements that lead to the rise of drug dealing on the streets of Queens to become the success he is now.
Another person who influenced the character James “Ghost” St. Patrick was Courtney A. Kemp's own father. She mentioned that her father was a brilliant but troubled advertising executive via Instagram.
She explained that her father valued image over everything, much like Ghost, and that he genuinely believed that showing up professionally and looking the part would protect black people from racism and justice.
Is Power Worth Watching?
Power has won fans all over the world and has become a massive success in the history of television.
As well as being well produced, the show's story is very appealing. It is believable and feels genuine with outstanding acting, especially by the lead character Omari Hardwick. The fact that Curtis Jackson entered the series also made it gain more attention and more viewers.
In fact, during its eight years of airing, Power has garnered more social media interaction than acclaimed competitors like Empire, or How to Get Away With Murder, according to Nielsen's social content ratings.

What Is The Appropriate Age To Watch Power?
This series is rated for ages 18+, and rightly so!
Power is an intense drama that has all the elements that might concern parents, like violence, sex, drugs and language.
Characters are killed on screen in many horrible ways, and women are threatened with sexual violence and treated as objects. Several body parts are seen undressed, and the sex is very graphic.
Cursing is almost constant, with the F-words and others used as threats or affectionately. The use of drugs is somewhat glamorised, and luxury designers and products are checked frequently.
Although it's the parents' decision what they let their children watch, the generalised content of this series is definitely more suitable for adults of legal age.
