Under The Dome
This science fiction series, full of drama, fantasy and mystery, tells the story of the residents of the small American town of Chester's Mill, Maine, where a vast, transparent, indestructible dome suddenly isolates them from the rest of the world.
Without access to any means of communication, the people trapped inside the dome must find ways to survive with dwindling resources and growing tensions.
The perfect series for those who are sci-fi fans. The creation tells the story of the Colonials, a human resistance seeking revenge 40 years after losing the Cylon War to the robots.
Jason Rothenberg, showrunner of The 100, admitted that Battlestar Galactica was a huge inspiration for him.
The 100 – How Did The People On The Ark Appear?
Following a nuclear apocalypse that devastated the Earth's surface, the only remaining known survivors were the 400 residents of twelve space stations that were orbiting at the time.
The stations grouped and formed a single massive space station called “The Ark”.
Three generations were born in space, where the survivors now number 4,000. With resources running out, the Ark created strict measures, including capital punishment for those over 18 and population control, as space station leaders took actions to ensure the survival of the human race.
After the Ark's life support systems begin to fail critically, one hundred young prisoners are considered expendable and sent to the surface in a final attempt to determine if Earth is still habitable.
How Many Seasons Does The 100 have?
The 100 has seven seasons with 100 episodes, broadcast between 19 March 2014 and 30 September 2020.
In May 2020, Rothenberg told Collider that season 7 was the right time to end The 100 finally.
By completing the series the way he always imagined, Rothenberg was able to get his message across that humanity is disorganised but always has the opportunity to improve.
What Happened To Lincoln In The 100?
After being a regular character on the series, Lincoln was eventually killed in the third season due to a reduced role, and the actor, Ricky Whittle, refused to continue working with showrunner Jason Rothenberg.
Shortly after Lexa's death, Lincoln's demise made this third season one of the most controversial and least appreciated by fans.
Since season one, Lincoln had been on the show, being the first of the Grounders that the main cast interacted with.
He got into a relationship with Octavia Blake, taking Lincoln from a side character to a significant part of the cast from the second season onwards.
However, the toxic environment created with Rothenberg led to a plot change, eventually pushing him away from the show in season three.
While he never went into the specifics of his disagreements with the showrunner, Whittle said that “Rothenberg abused his position to make my job untenable and chose to depreciate me and neglect my character and myself.”
Whittle had even attempted to leave the show during season two but never detailed precisely what happened that kept him on board during season three.
Despite this situation with Rothenberg, Whittle kept a good relationship with everyone else on the show and even encouraged fans to keep watching after he left to support the rest of the cast and crew.
Will There Be A Spinoff Of The 100?
After a nearly two-year battle to get into production, the long-awaited spinoff of The 100 is now formally cancelled.
The CW has announced that it will not be moving forward, at least not on their network.
The announcement caught fans by surprise as, just recently, CW president Mark Pedowitz said at a press conference that a prequel to The 100 was still in discussion. However, it has now been made official that it won't happen.
The spinoff still got a pilot episode and was supposed to be set 97 years before the events of The 100, where a nuclear apocalypse devastated much of Earth's population.
The series would follow a group of survivors as they learn to deal with the fallout and create a new society in the ashes of the old one.
It's currently unclear whether Rothenberg will sell the series to other networks, although it's surely a possibility.
