Sweet Tooth Season 2 Release Date – When Is It Coming To Netflix?

Who knew that the post-apocalyptic dystopian world filled with hybrid children that is Sweet Tooth would be so successful for Netflix?

When Season 1 of Sweet Tooth premiered on June 4, 2021, over 60 million households watched it in its first four weeks.

Narrated by James Brolin, Sweet Tooth follows the life of Gus (Christian Convery), a ten-year-old human-deer hybrid who has been protected all of his life from the outside world.

But now Gus is on an adventure to find his mother. With only a picture and a general direction of Colorado, Gus sets off to connect with the woman he has never met.

Pairing up with the reluctant Tommy ‘Big Man’ Jepperd (Nonso Anozie, Zoo), a former member of the hybrid-hunting ‘Last Men’ and ‘Bear’; a human teenage girl fighting to protect hybrids (Stefania LaVie Owen), the three form a bond that will pull at your heartstrings.

Gus and Jepperd’s journey is as real as any other apocalypse story you care to name. And the series focuses beautifully on themes such as self-discovery, prejudice, and the beauty of an Earth healing without humanity sucking all the life out of it.

But we all want to know now is where is Sweet Tooth Season 2 and when is it coming to Netflix???

Sweet Tooth Season 2 Release Date

You always know when Netflix is on to a winner as they renew the show very quickly.

That's exactly what happened with Sweet Tooth season 2. In July 2021, Netflix gave the thumbs up to a second season consisting of 8 1-hour episodes.

Filming began on location in New Zealand in January 2022 and officially wrapped on June 6th 2022.

From that point the series goes into post-production and then once handed over to Netflix, the translation department goes to work. So basically, it takes a long time!

The good news is that Netflix has FINALLY put out a release date for Sweet Tooth season 2 and it is…APRIL 27th 2023.

Sweet Tooth Season 2 What Happens?

Sweet Tooth is based on the comic book of the same name by Jeff Lemire so we do have some idea where the series will go in season 2.

We left our group of friends at the end of Season 1 when nothing was going to plan. Gus inadvertently gives his location to the Last Men army and General Abbot captures Singh and Rani and forces Singh to begin working on a cure for The Sick.

The Last Men find Gus and Big Man, shoot Big Man, and capture Gus. But Aimee arrives and nurses Big Man back to health promising that they will get their children back.

With no major departures or deaths in the season 1 finale, we expect the cast to stay the same.

We now know that in the second season of Sweet Tooth, humanity is facing a new and deadly wave of the Sick.

General Abbot, a villainous figure played by Neil Sandilands, along with his group of violent mercenaries called the Last Men, have imprisoned Gus and a group of child hybrids.

Abbot is using the children as test subjects for the experiments of Dr. Aditya Singh, a captive played by Adeel Akhtar. While Abbot wants to find a cure and gain more power, Dr. Singh is solely focused on saving his infected wife, Rani, portrayed by Aliza Vellani.

Despite being a hero, Gus agrees to help Dr. Singh, which leads him on a dark journey of self-discovery and uncovering the truth about his own origins, as well as his mother Birdie's (Amy Seimetz) involvement in the events leading up to the Great Crumble.

Meanwhile, Nonso Anozie's Jepperd and Dania Ramirez's Aimee Eden team up to free the hybrids, but their partnership is tested as Jepperd's secrets are revealed.
