In February 2021 Netflix made the announcement that Wednesday, based on the iconic Addams Family character, would be going into production as a live action series.
And so began the countdown to one of the most hotly anticipated series of the year.
The new live-action coming-of-age comedy Wednesday will see everyone’s favourite maiden of the macabre graduate into a full-fledged leading lady.
Jenna Ortega (young Jane in Jane the Virgin, The Babysitter: Killer Queen) takes on the role of Wednesday Addams.
But the big names don't stop there. Catherine Zeta Jones makes a welcome return as Morticia Addams with Luis Guzmán taking on the role of her father, Gomez Addams.
Plus Christina Ricci, who originally played Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family (1991) will also make a triumphant appearance.
And wrapping it all up in a lovely bow is the visionary director Tim Burton.
With his history of telling empowering stories about social outsiders like Edward Scissorhands and Lydia Deetz, he brings his unique vision to Wednesday and her spooky classmates at Nevermore Academy.
Joy Sunday, Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) and Thora Birch will also co-star.
