The Notebook is set both in the modern day and in the 1940s. The story is told by an elderly man in a nursing home and flashes back in time to when Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) sees 17-year-old Allie Hamilton, who is spending the summer in town with her parents.

They begin a summer romance, and Noah's family love Allie. Unfortunately, Allie's parents, John and Anne Hamilton are less impressed with Noah because she is an heiress and he is a poor lumber mill worker.

The Hamiltons ban Allie (Rachel McAdams) from seeing Noah and take her back to Charleston. Noah writes to her every day for a year but never gets a response so he decides to enlist and heads off to war.

So do Allie and Noah ever get together? Are they fated to forever be in love but apart? Find out when you watch The Notebook.
