When Does Interstellar Take Place?

There Professor Brand explains humanity is slowly becoming incapable of surviving on Earth because of blight, dust storms and failing crops.

However, NASA's is undertaking a secret mission that involves engineering a way for humans to escape Earth while finding another habitable planet to live on.

Cooper then pilots the mission with his spacecraft passing through a wormhole, landing them in another galaxy.
