However, when they hear the news that their sister Beth (Eliza Scanlen) is ill, the women all reunite under the same roof.

How Old Are The March Sisters In Little Women?

When Louisa May Alcott wrote the books back in 1868, the March sisters were younger than we see them in the movie. Times have changed and we don't tend to marry off teenagers anymore, so the characters are depicted a little bit older.

When the story starts, Meg is 16 years old, Jo March is 15 years old, Beth March is 13 years old and Amy March is 12 years old.

As the book and movie progress, the young women grow older and go on to find meaning in their own adult lives.

Who Dies In Little Women?

It is Beth March who dies in the story. She initially develops scarlet fever but recovers leaving her in a permanently weakened state.

However, as she grows older it becomes clear that her time will be cut short which is devastating for the rest of her family.
