Where Is The Show Filmed?
The TV series The Summer I Turned Pretty was primarily filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina. The iconic beach house seen in the series, which is set in the fictional town of Cousins Beach, is an actual home in Wilmington. Many scenes throughout the series were shot in this location.
The home was chosen for its universal coastal feeling, serving as a “summer sanctuary” for the two families featured in the series. The house is designed to feel comfortable and lived-in, a place where one could walk in from the beach and put their sandy feet on the coffee table1.
As for specific rooms, the set decorator, Beth Robinson, shared some details about the design of Belly's room. Author Jenny Han had envisioned a blue and white room with toile wallpaper, which was chosen to be “Ocean Toile” by Schumacher, a design illustrating life under the sea and based on an 18th-century document.
The paintings in the room, created by artist Amy Elizabeth Stuckey, are meant to depict Belly as a child swimming underwater and jumping into the pool.
Apart from the beach house, a few other spots throughout Wilmington were highlighted in the show, including Wrightsville Beach, Padgett Station, and Russell's Quik Stop.
