What Is Triangle of Sadness About?

Celebrity model couple Carl (Harris Dickinson) and Yaya (Charlbi Dean) are invited on a luxury cruise for the uber-rich. And in return, all they have to do is promote it on social media. So far so good.

But led by the unhinged boat captain (Woody Harrelson), what first appears as an influencer's trip of a lifetime quickly turns catastrophic.

When a raging storm hits, and the yacht is attacked by pirates, the survivors are left stranded on a desert island and fighting for survival.

However, not everything is as it seems in this brilliantly satirical comedy that will leave you thinking long after the credits have rolled.

Triangle of Sadness has grossed $21.8 million worldwide with its limited cinema release.

But the real accolades have been pouring in since it won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2022.

It won Best Film, Best Director for Ruben Östlund, Best Screenwriter, and Best Actor for Zlatko Burić at the European Film Awards.

It was nominated for two Golden Globe awards, three BAFTAs, and three Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.
