It was almost inevitable that The Big Bang Theory spin-off, Young Sheldon, would be just as popular as it delved into the backstory of one of TV's most iconic characters – Sheldon Lee Cooper.
Created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, Young Sheldon is consistently one of the most viewed sitcoms on tv.
The show takes place in the late 1980s and early 1990s and follows Sheldon attending high school in the fictional town of Medford, Texas.
Fans in the US can watch the first seasons on HBO Max and fans in the UK and Australia can watch the first four seasons on Netflix.
But knowing that the sixth season has already started airing, we're asking…Young Sheldon season 5 – when is it coming to Netflix?
Young Sheldon Recap
We meet Sheldon at the age of 9 in the first season of Young Sheldon. Sharing a bedroom with his twin sister Missy, he also lives with his older brother Georgie and parents Mary and George.
It's quite clear that Sheldon is far smarter than anybody else. The problem for Sheldon is that he knows it.
And so begins his journey skipping through high school and dealing with all of the ups and downs that come with being a child prodigy.
Young Sheldon Season 5 – Netflix Release Date
The first four seasons of Young Sheldon went straight into the Netflix UK Top Ten and stayed there for weeks.
Amidst all the crime thrillers, it seems that Netflix viewers just love the comfort of a good old-fashioned sitcom.
The good news is that there is more to come. Young Sheldon Season 5 has not been confirmed by the streaming platform; however, there are clues as to when we will see it drop.
Historically Netflix has added seasons of Young Sheldon on the exact same date each year. We got the first three seasons on November 1st 2021 and the fourth season on November 1st 2022.
On that basis, we expect to see the fifth season drop on Netflix on November 1st 2023.
Young Sheldon Season 5 – What Happens?
For those who haven't caught up with the series on network tv, we left the Cooper's in a little bit of a pickle.
Geroge and neighbour Brenda seem to have a little something going on behind Mary's back but two things stop them. First George has another mild heart attack and second, Connie starts to become suspicious.
A new pastor ruffles Mary's feathers, Georgie drops out of high school, we get a surprise visit from Howard Wolowitz (narration only), and Connie opens her own backroom casino.
And then the bombshell that rocks the Cooper's family life. Georgie gets a girlfriend pregnant. And just when it can't get any worse, Connie and Georgie get arrested at the Mexican border for trying to smuggle in cigarettes.
As expected, all's well that ends well in Medford, Texas. Or at least enough to move into season 6 and the upcoming seventh season!
