Beautiful Disaster is a 2023 movie based on the novel of the same name by Jamie McGuire.
Directed by Roger Kumble it stars Dylan Sprouse and Virginia Gardner. Considered a romantic drama, it is available on Hulu and Amazon Prime Video.
It is yet another movie about a good girl who falls for a bad boy but given that this one is aimed at adults, is it worth watching? Or should you skip right passed it and find something else to stream?
What Is Beautiful Disaster About?
The story begins with the life of Abby Abernathy, a college freshman running from her complicated past. Trying to reinvent herself as the “good girl,” Abby lands in Eastern University, where she wants nothing more than to maintain a low profile.
However, her plans are derailed almost instantly when she meets Travis Maddox, a notorious campus playboy with tattoos and a penchant for underground fight clubs.
He's a friend of a friend and the two instantly clash, while also clearly being attracted to each other. So when a simple bet results in Abby staying in Travis's apartment for a month, it propels them both into an emotional whirlwind.
Despite Abby's resistance and her best intentions to keep him at arm's length, she becomes embroiled in Travis's chaotic world. But it's not all one-sided as Abby's father comes out of the woodwork to mess with her life once again.
As Abby's secret history begins to resurface the couple must decide if their love can survive the hurdles they must jump together and individually.

Is Beautiful Disaster Worth Watching?
The problem with Beautiful Disaster is that it has no idea who the audience is. If the plot summary seems remarkably similar to the ‘After‘ movies, which it is, then you'd be forgiven for thinking it was aimed at teenage girls.
But the sexual content and language lend themselves more to adults who are far too old to buy any of the excruciating rubbish that Beautiful Disaster is selling.
It is painful to watch. Sure, there's on-screen chemistry between Sprouse and Gardner but the script, plot, story arc and characters are ridiculous. I mean seriously, her big ‘secret' is that she was a child poker prodigy who used her skills to win big until she was banned from the casinos.
Really?? That's it?? It's hardly the stuff of Ocean's Eleven and believe me, neither is the plot. In a nutshell, we get the same ‘ole same ‘ole.
An innocent beautiful young woman falls for a charming rebel and all-around bad boy who's really not that bad at all. Romance and relationship ensue, obstacles are overcome and they sail off into the sunset, happily ever after.
It's nonsense and even the funny quips referencing Tessa and Hardin in After couldn't save this movie.
