It was created by Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters) and Rob Delaney, who also star in the show as the main characters.

It's funny and award-winning but what is Catastrophe about and is it worth watching?

What Is Catastrophe About?

Catastrophe follows the story of an American man named Rob, who meets an Irish woman named Sharon while on a business trip in London.

They have a one-night stand which results in Sharon becoming pregnant. Rob then decides to move to London to be with her and help raise their child.

The show follows their ups and downs as they navigate their relationship, parenthood, and the challenges of everyday life.

The humour is often raunchy and irreverent, but the show also deals with more serious issues such as addiction, infidelity, and grief.

Overall, Catastrophe is a witty and honest portrayal of modern relationships and family life.

Is Catastrophe Worth Watching?

The thing about this show, as is usual with Sharon Horgan productions, is that it is both funny and relatable. We know these people, we are these people. Normal and everyday men and women, just trying to make it through.

But what Horgan does best, is inject as much drama as comedy, striking that perfect balance, tackling serious topics with sensitivity.

With themes such as parenthood, marriage, addiction, and loss, the show's writing is sharp and often relies on improvised dialogue between the actors, creating an even more natural feel.

One of the strengths of the show is the chemistry between Horgan and Delaney, who have a natural rapport that translates well on-screen. The supporting cast is also excellent, with standout performances from Mark Bonnar and Ashley Jensen.

The show was critically acclaimed and received numerous award nominations, including Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Writing and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. The series also won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Scripted Comedy in 2016.

It's another cracker of a show from Horgan and well worth watching if you love the likes of The Letdown or Workin Moms.

How Many Seasons Of Catastrophe?

Despite its success, the show only ran for four seasons. Horgan and Delaney have both stated that they felt it was the right time to end the show and that they wanted to go out on a high note.

The show's finale was well-received by fans and critics alike, with many praising its emotional resonance and satisfying conclusion.

In total, there are 24 episodes and all four seasons are now available on Netflix.
