End of the Road follows Brenda, who witnesses a murder while moving her family cross country. Despite her attempts to get away, she soon finds that a mysterious killer is after her and must do whatever it takes to protect her family.

It's time for another high octane action thriller, and this time it's the End of the Road starring Queen Latifah and Chris Bridges.

Queen Latifah (Girls Trip, Hustle) plays Brenda, a single mother who has just lost her job. So along with her brother Reggie, she decides to move her family across the country to start a new life.

With little money and no real plan, their world starts to unravel after one night in a motel when a man in the next room is killed in a deadly fight.

The family flee but soon finds that a mysterious killer is hot on their heels. Mostly because Reggie took a small fortune in missing drug money from the dead man's room.

Now alone in the New Mexico desert and cut off from any help, Brenda is pulled into a deadly fight to keep her family alive.

Is End of the Road Worth Watching?

The thing is sometimes you like a movie because you like the main actor. I confess that I will watch pretty much anything with Melissa McCarthy or Octavia Spencer in it.

Likewise for Queen Latifah. Especially a thriller starring Queen Latifah.

So with that in mind, I went into End of the Road quite optimistically and thankfully my enthusiasm wasn't misplaced.

The story is well thought out. A woman witnesses a murder and with self-preservation kicking in, leaves hoping to forget it ever happened.

However, the killer knows what she saw and that his money is gone. So he comes after her, her brother and her two kids.

What else is she supposed to do other than fight to protect her family?

So from that point of view, it ticked a lot of boxes. Is it a little contrived? Maybe. You do want to scream at Reggie for taking the money but let's be fair here, if he didn't there wouldn't be a movie!

Overall End of the Road is a pretty decent cross-country road trip thriller. The script is sharp, the acting is solid, and overall it's a decent way to spend an hour and a half.
