Comedian Jo Koy is back at Netflix with a new stand-up special. This time he is in Hawaii and as funny as ever. Playing to a packed out crowd, no subject is off topic. If you haven't seen him before, Koy is very much an observationalist comedian. His ability to spot the smallest of details and differences is hilarious.
It is also what sets the theme of the routine. Using his Filipino-American heritage, he starts with how to tell people from different Asian countries apart. Moving on to why Mexicans and Filipinos are so similar. He then moves on to his family and in particular his Mother which is laugh out loud funny and easily relatable. Especially the lunch box story!
That takes him on to his own kids and how his life differs from his son's. Which, for any parent, is so funny. The anecdotes are clever and familiar and the show moves along at a really quick pace. Koy never stops moving or telling stories from his childhood and he constantly has the audience in raptures.
If you enjoy watching stand-up then definitely give this a go. His style is similar to Chris Rock in that it's sharp, witty and on point. Overall, Jo Koy Comin In Hot is a really funny one-hour special that is well worth a watch if you want a few laughs.
