Allison Janney and Jurnee Smollett? Yes please. And if you love these two solid actors as much as I do, then you'll love the Netflix thriller – Lou.
Lou (Allison Janney) is a woman with a past and a woman with secrets. Thinking she has put it all behind her she settles for a quiet life in pretty much the middle of nowhere.
When a storm rages through the town, a young girl is kidnapped. With no other option, her mother (Jurnee Smollett, Spiderhead) begs Lou for help to pursue the kidnapper.
The two women must risk their lives on a rescue mission to find the little girl.
But what neither of them knows is that it will be a journey into the wilderness that tests their limits and exposes shocking secrets from their pasts.

Is Lou Worth Watching?
This has a lot of comparisons with the John Wick movies and for good reason. Don't be fooled into thinking that it's two helpless women searching in a storm.
Oh no, this is a kickass action thriller that includes one incredible fight sequence involving Janney and Daniel Bernhardt, the longtime stuntman who trained Bob Odenkirk to fight for Nobody.
Bernhardt's credits are enviable and include The Matrix Reloaded and John Wick which all bodes well for Lou.
As for the film itself, the groundwork in Lou is laid out quickly and concisely. Lou is a mysterious woman, but through a bit of narration, we get the gist of the life she has left behind. Not enough to give everything away, but enough to keep you intrigued.
Of course, things ramp up considerably when the massive storm hits, and you actually see the young girl get kidnapped – chills! And then Lou gets into full-on action mode.
The hunt is on for the kidnapper, but we soon realise that there's far more to this story than a simple abduction and it's that chase and those shocking secrets that really do keep you hooked.
As ever, Academy Award winner Allison Janney is amazing, likewise with Jurnee Smollett. The rest of the cast shine and overall Lou is a solid action thriller that is well worth watching.
