Hugo Blick's upcoming miniseries, The English, is a Western drama starring Emily Blunt and Chaske Spencer.
Cornelia Locke (Emily Blunt) comes to the American West seeking revenge on the man she believes killed her son. She meets Eli Whipp (Chaske Spencer), a Pawnee ex-cavalry scout. This unlikely duo must work together to survive in the untamed American West.
The show is created by Hugo Blick, who has an impressive career in television. He won a Peabody Award and Golden Globe Award for his work on the BBC drama series The Honourable Woman.
Along with writing credits, Blick is also known for his acting roles. In Batman, he played Jack Napier, the character who eventually becomes The Joker. He's famous for delivering the line “Have you ever danced with the devil by the pale moonlight?”.
Blick has called his latest series a: “a thrilling, romantic, epic horse-opera.”
The English Trailer
Recently the first look trailer for The English was revealed and it looks stunning. The trailer gives a glimpse into the dynamic between Locke and Whipp while also hinting at the challenges they'll face.
What Is The English About?
The English is a six-episode limited series that rifts on many of the classic themes of great Westerns like True Grit, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Hostiles.
As the series is yet to air, we don't know too much about the plot. However, we can glean a few things from the trailer. The series will focus on the developing relationship between Locke and Whipp as they travel through the American West. It looks like the journey won't be an easy one.
Where Can I Watch The English?
Interestingly, The English will premiere on BBC in the UK. While in the rest of the world it will be released on Amazon Prime Video. This is part of Amazon's push to create more original content for their streaming service.
So when can we expect the series to hit Amazon Prime Video? The series is set to premiere on November 11th. So not too long to wait! The show is released on the 10th November on BBC Two in the UK.

The English Cast – Who's Starring In This Western?
The English has an impressive cast, starring some well-known actors and actresses.
Emily Blunt is known for her roles in Quiet Place, Edge of Tomorrow and Jungle Cruise. Chaske Spencer is best known for his role as Sam Uley in The Twilight Saga and his work on the Amazon Prime series Sneaky Pete.
The pair are joined by Tom Hughes, best known for his appearance as Prince Albert in the iTV Victoria. Irish actor Stephen Rea, who is known for his roles in The Crying Game and V for Vendetta, also stars. Rafe Spall and Toby Jones round out the cast.
The English looks like it will be an exciting series with a lot to offer. So make sure to check it out when it premieres on November 11th!
