Just when you thought you had seen it all, along comes We Are The Champions to open your eyes to some of the world's craziest sports and competitions. Fun show with some interesting insights.

Ever heard of Frog Jumping? How about Fantasy Hairstyling? Cheese Rolling anybody? No?? My either. But that's the fun of We Are The Champions, a show about six of the world's most unusual but highly competitive sports you've probably never heard of.

The show consists of six episodes, each focusing on one major event. First up is ‘Cheese Rolling'. This is a crazy English competition in which contenders try to race a large ball of cheese down an incredibly steep and dangerous hill. It's as bonkers as it sounds. And so are the people that chase the cheese!

Next up is Chili Eating. It's as bad as it sounds with contestants coming from all over the world to New Orleans to battle it out over 13 rounds of chili eating. As the rounds progress the SHU (Scoville Heat Unit) gets progressively higher until the eaters can't take it anymore. As an example, the Guinness World Record for hottest chili is the Carolina Reaper. Yet, here it is only the 6th or 7th hottest pepper in the competition!

From chilis to Fantasy Hairstyling and the Bronner Brothers international competition that pits incredible hairstylists against each other for the chance to win $10,000. Forget your local salon, these stylists are creating masterpieces, entirely made from hair. It has to be seen to be believed.

We Are the Champions also features an episode on Dog Dancing – where owners and their dogs compete in choreographed routines to wow the judges. It also includes the biggest YoYo competition in which mostly teens must perform some of the most complicated yoyo routines to be crowned World Champion.

And lastly, there is Frog Jumping. I don't even know how to explain this. Frog jumpers find their own frogs and train them to jump as far as possible to win a race of sorts. The passion is undeniable if a little crazy, but then again so are most of the sports featured in We Are the Champions.

Worth Watching?

This is a fun show however some of the episodes are better than others. The higher the skill level the more interesting and competitive they are. It reminded me of the other Netflix show, Losers, in that it's a more unusual take on sport and something we don't see every day. Worth watching.
