The first ‘A Quiet Place' movie became a surprise hit with audiences back in 2018. The horror/thriller movie is based on a family living in rural America, this small family unit must live life in complete silence, or face being eaten by giant spider monsters which roam the countryside. It was an unusual premise for a horror movie but audiences flocked to see it. Worldwide, the movie generated $340 million in box office sales. Not bad for a $17 million dollar budget!
It's easy to see why the studio behind the original movie would be tempted to have another roll of dice. Although, fans of the first movie were left wondering if the sequel would be more of a prequel. Judging from the recent trailer release, it looks like we'll get a little bit of both. The latest ‘A Quiet Place 2' trailer gives hints on how the Abbott family found themselves stalked by giant monsters in a post-apocalyptic world. Along with a new story arch which follows on from the events at the end of the last movie.
The lovely Emily Blunt is back in the role as kick-ass Mother ‘Evelyn Abbott' and is joined by Cillian Murphy and Millicent Simmonds. I expect ‘A Quiet Place 2' could do even bigger numbers than the 2018 movie, especially with the recent popularity of Netflix's ‘Bird Box‘. Both films explore similar themes and it's likely that fans of Sandra Bullock's horror movie will be tempted to buy a ticket for ‘A Quiet Place 2'.
