Crazy Rich Asians has just been released in the US and has topped the domestic box office for the third week in a row with $28.3 million over Labor Day Weekend. And thankfully it will hitting cinema screens in the UK on September 14th. Hurrah!
Based on Kevin Kwan’s best-selling book, Crazy Rich Asians has been lauded as the first movie backed by a major studio in a quarter of a century that features a predominantly Asian-American cast. For those of you haven't heard of it, it is an American romantic comedy-drama film that follows Rachel Chu as she goes to meet her boyfriends family.
What Rachel doesn't know is that they are among the richest in Singapore. Plus her boyfriend Nick is considered one of the country's most eligible bachelors. Now in the spotlight, Rachel must contend with jealous socialites, quirky relatives and something far, far worse — Nick's disapproving mother. The perfect rom-com.
