For the ninth and final time, we have a new Star Wars teaser trailer, with it set to conclude the whole saga!
The Rise Of Skywalker is set for release on December 19th in the UK and fans around the world can't wait. The final film in the Star Wars saga is going to wrap up the recent trilogy as well as all of the nine films. JJ Abrams is the producer, director and co-writer for the new film. He had the same roles in The Force Awakens. However, he wasn't part of the most recent film The Last Jedi.
All of the original actors from this trilogy are back. This includes Daisey Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) and John Boyega (Fin). But there are some older faces as well as we see Billy Dee Williams who plays Lando Calrissian flying the Millenium Falcon in the trailer. We don't see but hear the well-known cackle of Emporer Palpatine who is played by Ian Mcdiarmid in the second trilogy.
The teaser trailer starts with Rey stood in a desert-like area waiting for the oncoming TIE interceptor to reach her. We don't know who is definitely in it but it could well be Kylo Ren. As it gets closer she pulls out her lightsaber, the same one that Luke Skywalker had. Luke is talking to her telling her “We've passed on all we know” suggesting its all come down to her as the final Jedi.
We then see Kylo Ren fighting with the First Order behind him killing people. After this, he goes on to fix his helmet. This is the same one that he smashed in The Last Jedi. We then see Fin and Poe for the first time in the trailer. JJ Abrams treats us to a piece of nostalgia when Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca go into hyperspace in the Millenium Falcon.
Carrie Fisher's character Leia returns in the film having passed away before the release of The Last Jedi. She consoles Rey in what seems a fitting tribute to the actress. The final piece of the teaser trailer shows us Rey, Poe and Fin. They are all looking over at what seems to be a crashed Death Star. As the trailer ends Emporer Palpatine can be heard laughing showing us he will have a part to play in the final film.
The teaser trailer doesn't provide us with a lot of information on the plot. It leads us to have to piece together the film. When the official trailers come out the plot may be clearer but even so, the new film looks like it will be a classic.
Finally, the title has lead to much confusion. Which Skywalker will it be that rises? Does it refer to Kylo Ren as he is the son of Leia which makes him a relative to the Skywalker family? Or is it more obvious and does it mean that the ghost of Luke will rise and guide them to defeat the First Order? More will become clearer as more trailers release.
